About
I'm Ivan Godinez, a Los Angeles artist who's been creating since I was a kid.
I grew up in Boyle Heights, CA, where Chicano murals covered every major street. I was inspired by these painters—part of the Chicano mural movement that showed me art belongs to the people and tells our stories. That's the moment I knew I wanted to paint like them. I'm proud of my heritage and the city where I'm from, and you can see it in my art.
In high school and junior college, great teachers sharpened my skills and encouraged me to keep going. Even though I never finished college, my passion for art never stopped.
My preferred medium is oils, though I love mixing mediums for abstract work. When I need inspiration, I travel locally to refresh my mind. I create art that connects to my heritage and art that says I'm from LA.
Cali Arthouse is my working studio. Art never stops here.
For me, art has no limits. When I'm inspired, anything can happen.
